According to some British researchers, the "Serbian Alps" served as the inspiration for the famous writer J.R.R. Tolkien, author of The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings, to create the mountains of Middle-earth. And really ... they look like the exact replica of the ones from the movie.

The adventure begins in Bor, a town built next to a copper mine that opened in 1903. The first stop is Museum of Mining and Metallurgy, that held it’s first exhibition in 1951. After the museum, we continue our journey.

Veliki Krš is a branch of the southern Carpathian Mountains and is one of the oldest mountains in Serbia. The highest peak is 1148m tall, and the length of the entire ridge is 13 km. The ascent to the top of the ridge takes about 1 hour+ depending on the condition and speed. After that, you go out on the ridge and further walk is on the top of the ridge from where you can enjoy a magnificent view.

After descending from the Veliki Krš, we will regain our strength with dinner.

The duration of the tour is about 6 hours.

The adventure of the second day starts with breakfast. After the stroll by the lake, we start climbing Stol. The mountain is 1156m high and it takes about 1.5 hours to climb it. From the top there is a view of both Veliki and Mali krš, as well as Deli Jovan.

After returning to the mountain lodge and a short break, the tour takes us to the local honey producer where we will try high-quality local products, and whoever wants to can buy honey, as you will certainly not find any better ;) The day ends with trying the local specialties.

 NOTE (only for organized tours): After climbing Stol, everyone interested will be able to try their hand at archery skills that were the trademark of the Lord of the Rings Elves.
