When the end of the world was announced in 2012, one of the few safe places where many sought "salvation" was the mountain Rtanj, under which, it is believed, there is a pyramid built thousands of years ago.

Another legend about this magical mountain tells us that a great wizard, who guarded the whole area, lived in a castle a long time ago. In any case, we can say that the truth is out there somewhere...

As far as your adventure is concerned, it starts in the village of Rtanj, from where your ascend to the top of the mountain Rtanj, located at 1560m above sea level. The ascent goes along the south side, which is less demanding and with breaks takes about 3.5 hours, depending on your fitness and speed of climbing of course .

The first part of the trail is easier and leads through the forest to the plateau at an altitude of about 1000m, from where a slightly steeper path leads to the very top, which offers a truly surreal view worth every step you took. At the top you can see the remains of a chapel built in 1936, which was destroyed by gold diggers.

After a break at the top, where you can enjoy the view and take some photos...we go back. We take the same path back and the descent lasts about 2.5 hours.
