Visit the cradle of Neolithic civilization or get to know the longest gorge in Europe or ... there are many ORs on the beautiful blue Danube. Don't believe us...check it out for yourself ;)

Your weekend adventure begins in Kladovo, a small town on the Danube. After an easy walk around the lake and a tour of the Fetislam fortress, the path leads us to the remains of the Trajans Bridge. The bridge was built in 105 A.D. during the Second Campaign of the Roman Emperor Trajan on the Dacians and was considered the longest bridge ever built.
From the mainland we move onto the Danube itself for a cruise that lasts about 1 hour. You will visit Trajan's plaque, and learn more about King Decebalus, a Romanian national hero who resisted Roman invasion for a long time and whose head is carved into the stone and visible from the river.
After you have seen the gorge from the Danube, it is time to look at it from a different perspective. From the Ploče lookout point, the Miroč Mountain offers a truly surreal view. The ascent to the lookout is easy, it does not require extreme fitness ;) and lasts about an hour.
We end this interesting day in the rural household Kapetan Mišin breg, a place of beautiful nature, magnificent views and delicious homemade food.

The adventure on the second day also begins with an easy walk, but this time around Donji Milanovac.
After breakfast and morning coffee ((a specific ritual in Serbia), we set off for Lepenski Vir. Lepenski Vir represents the oldest settlement in Europe from the Neolithic Era. The first organized human settlement in the open air was located in Djerdap and was founded eight thousand years ago. An interesting museum display will bring you closer to what the settlement looked like and how the people of that time lived.
Since we got acquainted with the prehistory, we continue the adventure into the Middle Ages, more precisely in the 14th century, by visiting the Golubac Fortress town. The Golubac fortress was built at the very entrance to the Djerdap gorge, the place where the Danube’s widest stream flows into the strait of the Carpathian Mountains. From here, one could easily control the entire land and waterway that connected east and west; the steep and inaccessible Ridan cliffs, on which the Fortress was built, and the river itself, were its natural protection.
You will learn more after visiting the fortress and the Tourist Information Center.
We will end the historic walk along our Cote d'Azur with local cuisine, exchanging impressions from our weekend adventure over dinner. :)
